Sewing memories

My beloved Grandfather of 89 — two months short of his 90th birthday — died three weeks ago. As grieving therapy, and because it seemed like a good idea, I collected some of his old ties and made this to give to my wonderful grandmother. So lucky to have had him in my life so long, so lucky still to have an amazing spark of a grandmother to continue to cherish. My first log cabin block ever (baring one made at school when I was about 7 with a strict and rather terrifying Swiss German sewing teacher…). That it makes a cross design in the end would have pleased my grandfather, I suspect. Happy sewing. JJ.
